Missing Middle

What is "The Missing Middle" you may ask?

The City of Olympia is considering code changes to allow more housing choices in our community.  The term “Missing Middle” refers to a range of housing types that can provide more than one housing unit per lot and be compatible with existing neighborhoods.  Allowing for a range of housing options is essential to help ensure housing availability for all.

Bigelow Highlands is included in the rezoning area.  I strong encourage you to read the City's website regarding this topic and then take their survey.  They want feedback however, the feedback time is very short time November 15-30.  So be that informed neighbor and share your thoughts by taking their survey.  The link is at the top of the page in the green box. (  Remember you only have until the end of the month.

Missing in Action

At October's general meeting elections were held.  Up for two year terms were president and secretary.  Unfortunately no one stepped up.  Actually someone did step up for secretary, but they lived outside of BHNA boundaries.  If you would like to see BHNA continue as your liaison between the City and you then please consider running for president or secretary for the Bigelow Highland's Neighborhood Association.

2016 Olympia City Grants

posted Jul 1, 2016, 3:03 PM by Jason Walker

We survived the selection process and made the cut.  BHNA's 2016 grant proposal was for two new sandwich board signs to help advertise our happenings and funding to help contact landlords within our bounders to let them know that while they may not personally live here we hope that they would rent to individuals who they would want to live next to.  Did you know that 40% of our 531 homes within our bounders are rentals?

The new signs will be placed on the North side of our bounders along the West end of Bigelow and East end of Yew.
